Recognizing & Preventing Unhealthy Teen Relationships

Wednesday, February 27, 2019

Recognizing & Preventing Unhealthy Teen Relationships Statistics show that 1 in 3 teenage girls will experience dating violence in her relationship before she reaches the age of 18. However, it is common for teenagers to receive little to no information on healthy vs. unhealthy dating patterns, behaviors, and red flags. This presentation will lay out specific dynamics of unhealthy teenage relationships. We will answer the common questions of “how do I recognize dating violence,” “how do I talk to teens about unhealthy dating patterns,” and “how do I address concerns in a protective way.” Presenter Jordyn Lawson is the Assistant Director of Clinical and Professional Services at Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support. Jordyn has worked in the field of domestic violence recovery for over 10 years. She currently provides individual and group counseling services to women and children victims of domestic violence, and trains communities on the dynamics of abuse.
